Travel Fears And Phobias

FEAR OF FLYING - BA course - encouragement form someone who helped to run them Jane writes: "I had been putting off booking a place on the fear of flying course, which is my next hurdle, when I had an email from a friend I made when we lived in Denver. She is British and used to be cabin crew for BA & worked on the courses. Her message gave me the courage to book the course and I thought others with a fear of flying might find it helpful too. She is happy to be contacted if you want more information. I have booked myself on the 11 February course and have a mixture of excitement and trepidation when I think about it. But our imminent house move will take my mind off it for the time being! Happy New Year to everyone, Jane" (For a full report of Jane's experiences with the course, click here).

The message from Elaine "I wanted to write to encourage you to take the fear of flying course with BA at Heathrow. Many years ago I was the volunteer crew for the programme... We would all be together in a classroom setting in the morning, the instructors, passengers, flight crew and cabin crew. I think they were run in those days by a Dr. Jaffa or Jaffrey. It was a lot of fun and very informal where every process was gone over in great detail. Then we all boarded an aircraft, used to be 737 or 757, and take a short 30 min flight around London. Because the passengers all knew the crew on a first name basis boarding the aircraft was like meeting long lost friends again so most nerves just quickly dissappeared. In the 9 years that I did it only one woman actually got off the aircraft before take off. The sucess rate was amazing so good luck it's not easy but I'm sure you will make it.
