The Problem Of Guilt

In October 2005, the Co-ordinator paid a visit to Devon to meet Network members, hear their stories and listen to their hopes for the Network.

The over-riding theme of conversations was guilt - for being alive when others, especially young ones, died; guilt for not being fully back to 'normal', especially if not badly injured; guilt for not doing enough to help others or save a life; guilt for asking to meet me or joining the Network, especially if not badly affected. Some people felt they were not 'worthy' enough to send opinions and ideas to the Network. because they weren't injured. There was also anger about other people not understanding the long-term impact of trauma - physically when it doesn't show.

If you feel this way, look up the link to survivor guilt and mentally when it does!

Many people had stories of feeling alone during and after the rescue, and on the journey home.
